A Message from the Rector:

Considering and Receiving the Kingdom that Comes

Jesus said. "Not everyone who says to me, `Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven."(Matthew 7:21-29).

What does doing the will of the Father mean? Are we doing the will of the Father or just saying "Lord, Lord"?

When we pray to God through the sacramental life there are two parts: the outward visible sign and the inward spiritual grace.  When we use language to talk with God, that's often the outward sign.  The other part is something much more attuned to God's will that wells up inside us, in our hearts, minds, and bodies.  This part speaks through our language and connects through time to God's intent or call for us.  Otherwise words are just words, music is just music, and liturgy is just logistical movements, the nuts and bolts.

When you use God's name in prayer say, "Father", " Jesus", or "Spirit."

God's Name when used to talk to the Creator of all life should be awe-inspiring.  We are addressing God the person who actually makes us alive.  God's Name should take you somewhere . . . to the Kingdom.  God will speak with you.  Do not be afraid to listen and to see God's creation being called into existence in your life.  Praying in God's Name will transform your life, my life, and our life together.  It should feed a deep hunger for ministry and fuel us to do works of compassion.

Deep hunger for ministry creates a direction for call that we identify through passion.  We then make choices to follow our passion for ministry attuning ourselves to God's voice.  Take a minute.  Say, "Father.  Your will be done, your Kingdom COME.  Kingdom COME. Kingdom COME."

Faithfully,

Mark +
