Senior Warden Report

Greetings to the parish family of Holy Trinity. As we enter a new year and a new chapter in the life of the Church, I would like to introduce myself and my vision for 2009.
My family has been in Georgetown for 14 years, however I have been an Episcopalian my entire life. I was raised in Louisville KY and attended Saint Andrews in the Highlands. Robin and I were married at this church but our children were baptized here at Holy Trinity. I have been involved with the choir for several years and have served on the vestry since 2007. Even though we have seen major transitions in the life of our small church we have stuck to our beliefs and our hope for success in the parish here in Georgetown. Professionally I currently serve as Assistant Director of EMS for Georgetown-Scott County. I am on the local board of the American Heart Association, serve as a grass roots advocate for the Ohio Valley Affiliate of the American Heart Association and am past president of the Georgetown-Scott County Community Connection and remain on the board of that organization.
As we move into a new year and we commit our time and talent to build a stronger parish community it will take hard work on the part of the vestry and of Father Mark. More importantly, it will take the work of the faithful membership of this church and of those who accomplish the myriad of tasks that keep Holy Trinity a vibrant, focused and holy place. Although the resources of the ministry are a little leaner, we will remain committed to accomplishing the mission and vision that we have created for this church. The vestry was tasked to pass a budget that limited the number of programs the parish can sponsor, however, we will provide offerings that can be accomplished with the help of volunteer members and with minimal financial impact. I am committed to working with Father Mark and the vestry to ensure the vitality of our church and to encourage the growth of our parish family. We must all continue to work together and support the church and
each other during the challenging year ahead.
The Church of the Holy Trinity is a special place for me and my family. The history of our building and the presence of the Episcopal Church are nearly as old as the city of Georgetown. I find that this is the foundation that we continue to build upon as we look forward to the year 2009. My hope is that each of you can see that we have a solid start and a bright future.

In Faith and Peace,
David H. Sloane

Outreach Committee

The Outreach Committee wants to thank the whole congregation for its participation in the December Amen House food/necessities bag drive. The Church provided over 20 bags of needed food and supplies to the Amen House. It is a great gift for our church to provide these goods during such difficult economic times.

The Outreach Committee reminds the congregation of Carrie Johnson and her work with a Thursday night medical clinic delivering free service to those in need. Carrie has been one of the driving forces behind this clinic which helps those who can't afford medical care. The clinic has a constant need for assistance. If you want to volunteer, please contact Carrie at carrie.johnson@lpnt.net or see her at church on Sundays.

The Outreach Committee also reminds the congregation of Betty Hester and her work with a local nursing home. Betty regularly visits 14 persons in the nursing home. She has a constant need for shampoo, other toiletries, CD players, CD's, and a number of other small items. Betty is also looking for persons to volunteer to help her visit these 14 persons. If you are interested, please call Betty Hester or see her at church on Sundays.

Please keep check on the bulletin board space in the Parish Hall. The Outreach Committee is working on a regular bulletin board space in the community building to announce needs for persons serving the community. Several church members have service projects in constant need of assistance or supplies.
