Come for Pancakes Join us as the gentlemen of the church prepare a wonderful feast of pancakes, sausage, and more on Tuesday, February 21 from 5:30-7p.m. The tradition of pancakes comes from the Lenten preparation of using all the eggs and flour before the Lenten fast. While we approach Lenten devotional practices in different ways in the current age (some people give something up, others take on a new practice, some fast), the tradition of eating pancakes remains with us. Ash Wednesday Service Please join us on February 22 at 6:30 p.m. for our Liturgy for Ash Wednesday. This is a service where we recall our brokenness and need for redemption. We will have the Imposition of Ashes, followed by Holy Eucharist. |

Upcoming Lenten Programs Adults--Wednesday Evenings beginning February 29-March 28, 6-7:30pm "The Power of Forgiveness"--The Amish Shooting, 9/11, Northern Ireland--these are all very challenging and hurtful situations. How are we to grieve and move forward? This series of Wednesday evening discussions will use the landmark film "The Power of Forgiveness" as a way to talk about and approach the heart-wrenching issue of conflict and forgiveness. Each session will begin with a simple soup meal. PLEASE sign up in the church or parish hall to assist with the preparation of the soup dinner, and PLEASE sign up for our discussions so we know how many people to prepare for. Youth (Grades 1-6)--Wednesday, March 7 and Wednesday, March 28, 6:-7:30pm A Walk with Disney (and others) in Search of the Holy These two programs will give young people an opportunity to see how issues of conflict and forgiveness are dealt with in popular film, and then how they can utilize those skills in their everyday lives. Please sign up in the Church or Parish Hall , or email Elise in order that we know how many young people to plan for. Adults and High Schoolers: Sunday Mornings 9-9:45am Grief and Suffering: A Practical and Theological Reflection -- We often ask: why does God allow something painful to happen? How can God be a God of love and then there are the horrible things that happen in the world? How are we equipped as Christians to deal with these issues? Through the Sundays of Lent, we will look at the issues of grief and suffering in different ways and while these are issues that will always be with us, hopefully we will be slightly more well-equipped to deal with them. |
